Despite waking up to a fresh blanket of snow again this morning, I kept hearing the very clear sound of a Spring songbird just now.
I finally discovered this handsome male meadowlark alighted in one of the trees right outside the office window. His plumage was all fluffed up to keep him warm, but that didn’t deter him from singing the song that God gave him to sing with all of his little meadowlark heart.
I loved seeing and hearing his cheery self because it cried out “Spring!” after a long, bitterly cold Montana winter, but deeper than that, I began thinking, “If this little meadowlark could still persevere singing his Spring song even though the world around his perch in that tree didn’t reflect it at all, then what is it in my life that God has called me to that I should be persevering in even though the situation doesn’t look like I think it ought to?”
I’m going to leave you with that. 🙂 Look inside yourself and see if you could learn a lesson from this meadowlark!
Happy Spring!
