I wanted to share this short poem with you all. It’s definitely a personal favorite probably because I have had SO many similar experiences to the one it’s describing. Can you relate?
The little cares that fretted me,
I lost them yesterday
Among the fields above the sea,
Among the winds that play,
Among the lowing of the herds,
The humming of the bees.
The fears of what may come to pass,
I cast them all away
Among the clover-scented grass,
Among the new mown hay,
Among the rustling of the corn,
Where drowsy poppies nod,
Where ill thoughts die and good are born,
Out in the fields with God.
~ Louise Imogen Guiney
At one point in my life I was going through transition (when I still lived back in Pennsylvania) and I decided to take several days and nights and go disappear with God. I drove the old Aerostar mini van I used as transportation at the time out the rutted fields roads of the family farm and parked right where the rows of corn stopped and the trees of the forest started. There I built a fire, prayed, took walks and simply enjoyed the silence. Alone. With. God. I left there feeling refreshed and ready for whatever God had for me next.
